It can be quite upsetting to be in conflict with a parent. It sounds like it's even more difficult for you in this situation because you apologized, but you still feel that she is mad at you. If this happened fairly recently, it's understandable that your mom may still have some hurt feelings over what was said or done. Sometimes it can help to give a person time to cool off before talking to them again. This can give your mom some time to process through what's happened and calm down if she is still feeling upset. If you apologize to someone while they are still feeling upset, they can also have trouble accepting that apology. It may be a good idea to wait until later on tonight or maybe even tomorrow and approach your mom again to apologize to her.

Conflict can bring up a lot of emotions. Since this conflict happened with your mom and it's difficult to discuss it with her right now, it may help to talk to a crisis counselor about what happened. When you e-mail us, we can give you some tips to work through the situation. However, if you are looking for someone to talk to more at length, we do have other services available. You can contact us via chat and text through our website at www.yourlifeyourvoice.org or you can call our hotline 24 hours a day.

Take care,

Teresa - Counselor

18
