The feelings of depression that you are describing seem to be overbearing and trying to take over your way of thinking about your life. These can be difficult feelings to manage. You were smart to start to open up about them. Talking about your feelings is one of the best ways to work through those feelings to reframe your thoughts. When you struggle with feelings of depression, it is important to let the trusted adults (parents, teachers, youth group leaders) in your life know what is going on. If you think talking is too hard, you could simply print off this email and show it to them.<br></p><p>We want you to know that finding a way through this depression is possible. We know this is true. We talk to people every day who call us back to let our counselors know that they are doing better. We know this is a difficult time for you but we will be here to help you through too! Email is a great way to communicate but if ever you feel that you need a quicker response, we are here 24/7,  you can talk to our counselors on the phone anytime 800-448-3000. If there is a situation that is causing you to feel depressed, it would be a good idea to share this with your trusted adult or with one of our counselors so you can start to find a way to manage or work through that situation.<br></p><p>We have a few ideas that we would like you to try:<br></p><p><a href="/pages/tip-creating-a-safety-plan.aspx?Topic=Depression">Creating a Safety Plan (yourlifeyourvoice.org)</a> – start with this one. Make a nice solid plan of how you can keep yourself safe in case your feelings become too big.</p><p><a href="/pages/tip-12-steps-to-overcome-depression.aspx?Topic=Depression">12 Steps To Overcome Depression (yourlifeyourvoice.org)</a> – then try to work on the steps in this plan. You will see that number 1 and number 2 focus on how you are taking care of yourself physically. This is research based and absolutely true. If you are taking care of yourself physically and getting good quality sleep it can help your depression.</p><p><a href="/pages/11-stress-busting-apps.aspx?Topic=Anxiety">11 Stress-Busting Apps (yourlifeyourvoice.org)</a> – this one has some things that you can try to help calm down your feelings and give your brain a break from the stress that you have been feeling.</p><p>There are many more helpful tips and tools on the site, take some time to look around.<br></p><p>Remember, you are important.
