My Mom Keeps Yelling At Me
My mom keeps yelling at me , when I’m just being quiet.

We are glad you have discovered our website and are reaching out today. We can appreciate how frustrating it is to being yelled at, even when you are just being quiet. Reaching out is the brave and wise thing to do and we know it is not always easy. You are doing great today in reaching out.

Sometimes it is hard to know what makes someone yell. They may even be upset about something else but yell at whoever is closest to them. Or it may be more personal. The best thing we can do is to work towards communicating with that person to see what is really going on. Avoid getting upset and getting into an argument. There is no real communication in arguments. Just lots of yelling. We have a section of articles in the Tips/Tools link at the top of the homepage. One of the sections is called “Family." There is an tip entitled “How to talk to Your Parents." This offers a basis of visiting with your mother to try and improve things. The link is below:

How to Talk to Your Parents (yourlifeyourvoice.org)

Another article that could be helpful is:

Conversation Starters (yourlifeyourvoice.org)

This article can offer some ways to relax:

99 Coping Skills (yourlifeyourvoice.org)

Take a look at the articles and reach out to us again. We want you to know we are here for you. Talking can help offer relief as you are sharing the burden. You can also discover new ideas and solutions that you would not likely discover on your own.

We hope to hear back from you soon. Stay brave, keep reaching out.

Sincerely,

Larry – Counselor
