It's not always easy to reach out and ask for assistance with tough issues like this but we hope that it is well worth it.

It sounds like you are having a hard time getting over someone who may not have treated you the best. It shows a lot of maturity that you realize the harm this person might be causing or has caused and that you need to move on. You are right as well that it is not always easy.

When trying to get over any kind of feeling or emotion it is important that you address how you feel and express it in some way. You don't want to keep those feelings bottled up inside; doing that can make things much harder. Speaking with a best friend or trusted family member may be a great way to vent about this whole situation. You can always reach back out to us as well by email, text, or call at any time! Another great way to express these feelings is to journal your feelings. This can be a private journal, you don't have to share it with anyone if you don't want to. If you're not sure where to start with this try one of these journal pages:

Shoe Box Therapy

Grief Journal

Brain Dump

Another important thing to keep in mind is that you are really focusing on self-care at this time. Things that seem simple like being extra nice to yourself, being patient with yourself, and focusing forward can actually have tremendous positive effects. Please take a look at our article talking about the 9 Steps to Taking Care of Yourself.

Most importantly however, is to take things one step at a time. Getting over someone, or getting over any kind of feeling, takes time. Keep reaching out to us for help through it and know that you have the strength to move forward.

Take care-

Addison, Counselor

15
