I'm Not Good Enough

<span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"times new roman", serif;">I feel like I'm not good enough or smart enough. I feel stupid. I feel like I have friends. I know my mom loves me. I just feel tired of feeling this way. A few years ago I lost my grandpa and I feel this loneliness I wish I could be with him again. I miss him every day and the pain I deal with is there constantly I don't want to feel this way anymore.

Thanks so much for reaching out. Those feelings you are having are not fun feelings to have. Let's talk about the negative feelings you're having. When you say that you “feel stupid." Is someone telling you those negative things or has someone done something to you to make you feel like this? Or are these statements coming from some inner feelings that you are struggling with yourself?

There is no doubt you miss your grandfather. Losing a special person always leave a little void in your heart. You never forget a loss like that and sometimes when you feel down your thoughts will lead you to him again because he was a bright spot in your life or it just brings out those feelings of sadness again. The good thing is that your heart is resilient and will heal along the journey.

We are glad that you are talking about this. Grief is normal. However when the sadness starts to interfere with your daily living and relationships. It's time to get help. When you mentioned you just want to be with your grandfather and don't want to feel this way anymore, are you having thoughts of harming yourself or suicidal thoughts or do you just want the pain to go away? We do want to make sure you are safe with your thoughts.

If you're having thoughts of suicide, please let a trusted adult know right away. Don't let those feelings become too big. Try these tips to tell your trusted adult:

How To Talk To Your Parents

Writing A Letter To Your Parents

How To Make A Mayday Call

We will be here for you, please keep reaching out.

Laura, Crisis Counselor
