Sounds like you're feeling overwhelmed with school and we understand school can be frustrating. You obviously care about school and your grades, and you should be commended for that. There are a few things that you can do to improve your study habits and help you to get better grades.

Set aside time each day to study. When you are studying make sure that you are in a place with no distractions. Turn off your phone, television, music, and minimize other distractions. Try studying for short periods of time. Study for 30 minutes and then take a 10 minute break. If 30 minutes is too much, try 20 minutes. Gradually try to increase your study time, but continue to alter studying with short breaks. When your mind starts to wander try to reign yourself back in by telling yourself that you will have a break in x number of minutes.

Do not get discouraged. Keep telling yourself that you will get there. It could help if you partner with your teacher and your parents. Write out a plan and work with them to hold you accountable.

Try these steps to improve your study habits.

Please take care and let us know if you would like to talk.

Thank you,

Michele, Counselor

15
