It's not always easy reaching out for support, but it shows a lot of strength to be asking for help. We are happy to be here for you and talk through these things with you.

It can be so stressful when you aren't seeing eye to eye with your parents. It sounds like you're feeling overwhelmed by the amount of fighting that has been going on between you and your dad. If you would like to reach out and tell us more about the situation, we can talk through some ways to help improve your relationship with your dad. These tip pages can also give you some ideas for things you can do to avoid the fighting and have calmer, more productive conversations with your dad:

Build a Bridge, Not a Wall

Not Feeling Support from your Parents?

What if I Don't Agree?

Breakups are also very painful and can be difficult to cope with. It's understandable to be feeling alone and upset. It's okay to feel exactly how you are feeling right now. It's important to remind yourself that the way you feel now is temporary. Leaning on other supportive people in your life can help, and so can using coping skills. It may take some time to heal from this pain, but you are already taking a step in the right direction by talking about how you feel.

Know that you are not alone in this. We are always here to talk when you need support. Emails can take up to 48 hours for a response, and it can be more difficult to have a conversation over email than over a phone call or text. To speak with a counselor more immediately and to be able to talk more in depth about your situation, you can call us at 1-800-448-3000 or TEXT VOICE to 20121 24/7. No matter how you choose to reach out, we look forward to hearing from you and providing support for you through this difficult time.

Take care and stay strong,

Annie, counselor
