I Have A Crush

I have a crush on this guy. He has been my friend for forever. He already knows I like him. I want to talk to him about it, but I don't know how. My gut is telling me to, I just don't know what to say.

We are glad that you are reaching out for opinions from others. One thing for sure, we don't want to weaken the friendship that has developed between the two of you. Sometimes when an attempt is made to take a relationship to the next level, it can damage or weaken the one that is already established. Another thing that we know is that strong and lasting relationships begin with solid friendships. So in your case, both saying something and not saying something could be a good choice. Not one but you can decide what the right answer is. We do have a tip to help you sort through this to make a decision though:

More Than Friends

Perhaps spending more time together doing fun things, sharing thoughts and feelings about school, family, sports, etc. will get you closer to where you would like to be with him. If he also shares more time and information with you, he may gradually grow closer to you too and a relationship might naturally happen. Sometimes helpful is to talk to friends and family who know you both about this. Do they think that you would make a good couple?

Lots to consider, we are happy to help you talk it out if you would like to. Give us a call or send us a text.

Good luck.

Pat, Counselor
