I've read online all about it, and it tells me to confide in my parents, a counselor or friends but I just don't have enough confidence and I'd feel really uncomfortable. I just want to know why I'm feeling this way. I cry every night, and I feel isolated and useless.

Welcome to YLYV email, thanks for reaching out today. You are an incredibly brave and smart young woman to recognize when you need extra support and being willing to ask for it. We can definitely be a resource to you and want to help in any way that we can. You mentioned that you've been feeling depressed and have even done some research on that. Educating yourself on what you think may be going on can sometimes help you understand things a little better.

You also mentioned that what you've found has told you to confide in your parents, a counselor, or friends. These resources could include talking with a doctor to get an official diagnosis as well as talking with a therapist to learn the skills needed to work through depression.

When dealing with your feelings, it's important to have tools to help process those feelings or get your mind off of them.
