It sounds like you're going feeling incredibly overwhelmed and alone through all of these stresses you're facing. Feeling so overwhelmed and not having anyone to support you through it can feel very lonely. It takes a lot of courage to reach out about such difficult thoughts, and we're so glad to be able to support you.

Your life has so much value! If you didn't exist, the world would be robbed of the unique gifts and qualities you have. Feelings like loneliness, depression, and anxiety can cause us to feel so badly, that those gifts are buried under the weight of our sadness. If you didn't exist, you wouldn't feel this pain, but you also would miss the many opportunities for joy and love that are possible in your future. While it's difficult to see these possibilities through the challenges of life, they can become clearer when there is someone to light the way.

One of most important supports to have is someone who can really listen to you and understand the feelings you have to express. If you have people in your life that you care for and who care for you, reaching out to them and taking the same courageous step you took when you emailed us might help you find the support you need. If you don't have that in your life, we strongly encourage you to reach out to us further to speak directly to a counselor. Often times, speaking these thoughts out loud and hearing another's response can open up possibilities for hope.

There are several ways to speak directly to a counselor:

CHAT with a Your Life Your Voice Counselor Monday – Friday, 6:00-12mid, CST through www.yourlifeyourvoice.org

TEXT YLYV Counselors 7 days a week, 2:00 pm-1:00am CST available through www.yourlifeyourvoice.org

There are also counselors available to speak to you by PHONE 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 1-800-448-3000.

We know exams are stressful, we understand the stress that you are feeling. We encourage you to start studying a little bit each day, this will help you to feel prepared without feeling so overwhelmed. Read through your notes before you go to bed and then sleep on it. Try to go to bed on time so you can feel rested and think clearly. Try reading your notes aloud, for some people who are auditory learners, this really helps. The nights before your exams when you are doing more concentrated studying, set a timer for 20 minutes and study just on one subject during that time. When the timer rings, take a moment to stretch, go to the bathroom or get a snack and then set the timer again. The timer will help you to stay motivated and focused. We know this is a tough time for you, if you are feeling lost or overwhelmed by a subject don't be afraid to reach out to your teacher and talk about how you are feeling. They may have some great suggestions for how to study as well.

Thank you so much for taking this step for yourself. You are not alone!
