How Do I Feel Better?FeelingsHow Do I Feel Better?

I feel sad and anxious most of the time. I go to sleep late and awake in the afternoon on the next day. I can't find a job that I like. I have the love of my life but it’s not enough for me to be happy. I’m afraid many times. I don’t eat healthy.

We're really glad you decided to reach out today. It sounds like there is a lot going on in your life and a lot of uneasy feelings attached to them. It makes sense that you are feeling sad and anxious. Those feelings can be very difficult to deal with alone. Reaching out was very brave and wise.

Is there something that happened to spark the initial feelings of being sad and anxious? When those feelings arise, how do you handle them? What kind of coping skills work best for you?

What happens when people are feeling depressed is different for everyone. Many times we like to isolate ourselves, sleep a lot ( if we can), and not take care of our body. It sounds like you are doing those things. Getting sleep is so important but getting it during the regular sleeping times is even more important. When you sleep during the day hours, the nights can seem so long and lonely. Getting on a regular sleeping schedule will take time but start setting your sleep time for 15-30 minutes earlier every few days. So if you normally go to bed at 3am, start getting ready for bed about 2-2:30a and set the stage for some good sleep. Actually be in bed about 2:30-2:45 and do that for a few days to a week. Keep shaving off that time and setting your time earlier and earlier until you are going to bed at a decent time.

Also set your alarm to wake up at a good time where you've had 8-9 hours of sleep. Maybe you need more or less. Start a routine with your sleep schedule. It can really help. Your body has a time clock and it needs to be awake during the daytime and asleep at night. It needs the sunshine. Give this a try.

As for your relationship, what do you think would make you happy? If this person is the love of your life, you have to love yourself, too. Learning to love yourself might start with using positive self-talk. Treat yourself well and take care of your body and mind. Make some changes to your diet. It doesn't have to be a huge change at first but much like your sleep schedule, do it a little at a time. Start thinking of a meal plan or ideas that you can use to make those changes. You can even work with a nutritionist at your local grocery store. Many of them are available to help you find some healthy options and ideas.

Finally, we are here for you and think it would be a great idea if you could call us or even check out our text or chat services.
