Break-ups can be challenging to overcome, especially a first love. It can be very painful and leave us feeling confused, sad or even angry. Many people do go through stages of grief when coping with a break up such as denial, anger, bargaining, and depression as it is a loss in our lives. It can be additionally painful if you and your best friend are not able to maintain your friendship due this.

However, even though it may not feel like it now. The pain will ease over time, you will grow and meet new people and make new relationships. Everyone has a first true heartbreak, while that doesn’t make it easier, know that you are not alone. We all experience loss of love in our own way and it becomes a part of our story. Letting go of a relationship can be healing, it can allow you the opportunity to take time for yourself. You learn from relationships that end, what it is you do and do not want from a future relationship. You take what you have learned and focus on rebuilding yourself, and with that in time you will find a healthy relationship you deserve. A relationship where the same love you feel is reciprocated.

For now though, it is okay to be upset and it is okay to feel those emotions. Allow yourself what you need for now, and use healthy coping skills to get through. Don’t allow yourself to stay stuck in the pain of this moment, but allow yourself to go through it, to heal you.

We want to be a support for you.
