My Friend Was Kicked Out Of His HouseRelationshipsMy Friend Was Kicked Out Of His House<div class="ExternalClass1535D699B40C4AA08304648E78726548"><p style="font-family:georgia;font-size:16px;"><span>Hello, I have a friend who has had a tough life. He was kicked out of his house by his mom, he recently also got kicked out by his roommates. Right now he is homeless and has been on the streets for a couple of days. I have advised him to go to a shelter home. But he just refuses to go. He wants me to bring him to my home. I still live with my parents, I still go to high school, and I have no way of helping him financially. He is 17. He keeps saying he not worth anything, he just prefers to die. It hurts when he says those kinds of things because I don't know exactly how he feels. At first I was set on him living with me, But I know we just can’t afford another person in our house. At least not for now. I would just hate to shrug my shoulders and say you're on your own. I want to help but I can only do so much. He must want to help himself in order for me to be able to help him. I also forgot to mention he has HIV. I just feel a shelter is his best option, I have told him about two times now, he has refused them both, I won't force him to do anything, but I'm feeling like I'm giving up on him. Which I don't want to. </span></p> <span style="font-size:16px;"> </span> <span style="font-size:16px;"> </span></div><div class="ExternalClassEFB0004A66CA48BCA93A4657918063C0"><div><div class="ExternalClass1535D699B40C4AA08304648E78726548"><p style="font-family:tahoma;font-size:16px;color:rgb(63, 63, 63);"><span>You are doing everything you can for your friend.  Do you think he is afraid to go to the shelter himself?  If you think that may be a possibility, perhaps you can go with him and help him get checked in and settled and then you can go to your home.  The unknown can be scary and he may not be willing to admit that he is afraid of doing that on his own.  </span><span> </span></p> <span style="color:rgb(63, 63, 63);"> </span><span style="font-size:16px;color:rgb(63, 63, 63);"> </span><span style="font-family:tahoma;font-size:16px;color:rgb(63, 63, 63);"> </span><p style="font-family:tahoma;font-size:16px;color:rgb(63, 63, 63);">Taking your friend into your home doesn't sound like a realistic solution and could possibly get your parents in trouble for harboring a runaway.  Your friend can contact local law enforcement or Child Protective Services, they may be able to help mediate the situation between your friend and his parents if he wants to return home.  Remember there are two sides to every story and sometimes it is best to have a third party such as the police to help sort things out.</p> <span style="color:rgb(63, 63, 63);"> </span><span style="font-size:16px;color:rgb(63, 63, 63);"> </span><span style="font-family:tahoma;font-size:16px;color:rgb(63, 63, 63);"> </span><p style="font-family:tahoma;font-size:16px;color:rgb(63, 63, 63);"><span>Sincerely,</span><br></p> <span style="color:rgb(63, 63, 63);"> </span><span style="font-size:16px;color:rgb(63, 63, 63);"> </span><span style="font-family:tahoma;font-size:16px;color:rgb(63, 63, 63);"> </span><p class="MsoNormal" style="font-family:tahoma;font-size:16px;color:rgb(63, 63, 63);"></p> <span style="color:rgb(63, 63, 63);"> </span><span style="font-size:16px;color:rgb(63, 63, 63);"> </span><span style="font-family:tahoma;font-size:16px;color:rgb(63, 63, 63);"> </span><p class="MsoNormal" style="font-family:tahoma;font-size:16px;color:rgb(63, 63, 63);"><span>Pat, Counselor </span></p> <span style="color:rgb(63, 63, 63);"> </span><span style="font-size:16px;color:rgb(63, 63, 63);"> </span> <span style="font-size:16px;"> </span></div></div> </div>18
