I am different from most kids because of my religion and I'm tired of lying about it to my friends. I'm tired of life being this way.

It really sounds like you are going through a lot of different types of struggles, and you made the right choice to reach out for help. We are very concerned for you as you mentioned you are feeling suicidal. Please know suicide is not the answer. Each person has their own story and struggles they must work through and overcome. Those individual struggles, can leave us feeling pretty down. Feeling prolonged sadness is not the way anyone wants to live their life and if you have been feeling this way for a while it is time to get more support to help you heal. So you made a brave choice to reach out tonight. Suicide might seem like the only option you have to get away from the pain and conflict you are feeling, but in reality, it doesn’t make things any better. It is permanent, so it takes away the option for you to have the opportunity to feel better and live your life to the fullest. Life is so big and ever changing, and while this feels like such a big moment in your life right now; it truly is just a small part of your overall story in your whole life.

It can be hard when you feel different from those around you, but there is nothing wrong with being different. In fact we should celebrate our differences! However, the truth is, there might be some people who might tease or be unkind to someone because of differences. Those people are not able to appreciate the differences that may exist between you and them. Though that is difficult to go through and can be hurtful, it says more about them then it does about you. It can show their fear, or inability to accept others. They may not understand. This does not make you any less of a person, or mean you should hide who you are or what you believe. There are many more people, who will accept you just the way you are and want to have a further understanding of just who you are and what you believe. Those people are the ones you want in your life to surround you, as they are true friends.

If you do feel that you are not able to keep yourself safe, reach out for support immediately. This can be by calling 911 or calling us here at the hotline. We are here to support you and talk to you about what is going on and what is causing you to feel this way. Please know there is help available and you are not alone. Using healthy coping skills can you help get through difficult times. It can take time to find the best the options to heal and cope, but suicide should not be one of those options. For tonight, make a plan for you to stay safe for now. Finding a different outlet to help you work through your feelings in a healthy way would be a wise choice. You could take relaxing bubble bath, watch a movie, read a book, listen to your favorite songs/band, or simply going to bed to get some rest. Even though it seems like a challenging task to find something to do to treat yourself right now; you deserve to give yourself the opportunity to find happiness, and to live the life you want. Give yourself the chance to feel better again and to feel joy. You are worthy of that opportunity.

We want to be a support for you.
