I hurt my Achilles tendon and I had to take two years off. during those two years I lost all of my skill. I came back and it was hard, I was struggling socially and physically, so I quit. Now I'm out of shape, I lost even more skill and I don't know what to do with my soccer situation. When I quit my dad had to pay for the remaining soccer practices, and we aren't rich. I want to be good at soccer again but I don't know what to do. I don't even know if I will ever be good again.

It sounds like you are struggling with this decision. Quitting a sport that you enjoyed because of your injury is common. The road to recovery can be very long and it will involve a lot of hard work. Many athletes endure these situations. You have to ask yourself if you want to continue to play or give it up. It sounds like you enjoyed it until the injury. You can be just as good if not better if you decide to get back to playing. You will have to put in time and lots of energy but in the end you get back to something you love. Don't worry about the "what if's" and if you will be good or not. You will. Right now you need to decide if you want to play.

We are here anytime and would be happy to help you on this journey. Recovery is hard but it is possible. Think of all those athletes that came back after an injury and did well. You can do this if you decide. And if not, find another interest.

Reach out and let us know how you are doing.

Take care,

Naina, counselor

13
