Taking Care of You

Regular self-care can improve your well-being and self-esteem.

Exercise: Finding Balance with Movement

Moving your body can help you think more clearly, manage stress, and feel more energized. But getting into a routine isn’t always easy. You might be too tired, busy, or unsure of where to start.  A lot of people struggle with finding movement that feels right for them

Start Small and Keep it Simple: You don’t need a perfect routine. Small changes are usually the easiest to keep up with.

You could try:

  • Taking the stairs
  • Biking or walking places when you can
  • Jogging in place while watching a show

Every bit of movement helps: Once something becomes part of your routine, it gets easier to keep going. And movement doesn’t have to be a workout video. Anything that gets your body moving is a win.

Be Careful of “All or Nothing” Thinking: For some people, exercise can turn into pressure – obsessing over results, pushing too hard, or comparing yourself to others. This usually leads to burnout or frustration. Everyone’s body is different, and what works for someone else might not be right for you. Healthy movement isn’t about perfection; it’s about taking care of yourself.

Find a Healthy Balance: Being consistent matters more than pushing yourself to the limit. It’s more realistic to move a little most days than to do a lot all at once and then stop.

  • Choose movement you actually enjoy.
  • Go at a pace that feels right for your body.
  • Give your body time to recover
  • Avoid comparisons to classmates, teammates, or online influencers.

Exercise as Self-Care: When you think of exercise as something that supports your body and mind, it becomes easier to approach it with less pressure. Movement can help you feel more grounded, more confident, and feel more like yourself. It is a great way to take care of yourself.
