Sometimes the simplest step in building a bond with members of your family is spending time with them; doing activities that you both enjoy. Just like we make friends the easiest when we are on the same sports team or like the same movies, people of all ages bond over doing things together that they enjoy.
What can you and your family do together? Do you guys share anything in common? These can seem like tough questions to answer. Because let's face it, sometimes it may feel like you have nothing in common at all.
First, challenge yourself to create two lists: 1) Those interests and activities that mean the most to you 2) Things you don't do a lot, or have never done, but you'd be willing to try. The more things you have listed out the better.
Second, have your parent(s) and sibling(s) make the same two lists. See which activities might match up. You will probably learn something about your family member's interests and hobbies you didn't know.
Having a hard time thinking of activities you would be willing to try? Here are few ideas that might help you to get your mind turning. Use these ideas to brain storm. On your list, try to be as detailed as possible. For example, instead of putting Card Games on your list, list out the names of the Card Games that you would like to play.
