Finding the right friend can be hard too. You want to surround yourself with friends that have similar interest, make you feel appreciated and someone that you just have fun with.

Building a healthy relationship with your friend will take some time if you are interested in doing so. Making this one healthy is going to mean that you will have to talk with her about how you feel. If you don't feel good when you are around her and she is hurting you, then it is time to tell her how you feel. Check this out for some ideas on making this a better relationship: Healthy Relationships.

If you are not interested in being friends with her, you will have to let her know. In this conversation, stick with facts. Try not to let your emotions get the best of you. Use your best communication skills.

Bottom line is that you have to decide if the friendship can get better. Maybe it will just take that one conversation. Maybe she has no idea what she has done to hurt you. Maybe she does. Decide what you want, communicate it, and then move forward. If you continue to feel uncertain about your friendship, talk to a trusted adult. Ask them what they see are the pros and cons of your friendship. Sorting things out in this way can help you see more clearly if this is a friendship to continue or not.

Our counselors are here for you anytime.

Take care,

Naina, Counselor

13
