How Stress Impacts You

Symptoms of stress can be spotted in four different aspects of your body and mind: the way you think, the way your mind feels, the way your body feels, and the way you act. Here’s a run-down of some signs of stress:

Stress Impacts the Way You Think

  • You can’t concentrate.
  • You have trouble making decisions.
  • You can’t remember things well.

Stress Impacts the Way Your Mind Feels

  • You feel like crying.
  • You’re crabby a lot.
  • You start worrying all the time.
  • You’re sad for some reason.
  • You get defensive, like people are trying to hurt you when they aren’t.
  • You find yourself getting angry and frustrated really easily.
  • You’re not very confident anymore.
  • You feel like everything’s gotten out of control.

Stress Impacts the Way Your Body Feels

  • You feel achy and tense a lot.
  • You’re catching more colds than usual.
  • Your stomach is churning or hurting.
  • You start gaining or losing weight.
  • You’re tired all the time.
  • You have panic attacks
  • You feel dizzy sometimes.
  • (GIRLS: Your period comes whenever the heck it wants!)

Stress Impacts the Way You Act

  • You can’t find time to do anything fun or relaxing.
  • Your work (school work or house work) starts to go downhill.
  • You can’t manage time. (Fifteen minutes is like an hour.)
  • You withdraw from friends.
  • You find yourself yelling at someone when you normally wouldn’t do that.
  • You’re eating funny foods in funny portions at funny times.
  • You get in more accidents (falling down the stairs a bit more?)
  • You stop brushing your teeth and combing your hair.
  • You are more likely to use drugs or alcohol.
  • You don’t care whether your shirt has a stain on it and just wear it to school.
  • You get reckless!
