Mother's Death

I really need someone to talk to right now. March 2009, my Mother passed away due to colon cancer, so it really wasn’t that long ago. There's just a lot and I’m scared to talk to my dad about it because I keep putting up this act were I’m happy but really I’m not. I need someone to talk to really bad.

I am so glad that you are reaching out to talk about how you are feeling. Losing a parent is one of the most difficult of life experiences. Please accept my sincere sympathies to you and your family. You are in my thoughts and prayers today. I am sure that you have been doing your best to keep yourself together for the sake of your father and siblings but you really can't go on that way. Eventually, the act of pretending that you are happy just gets to be too much.

We understand that you have a lot going on and would like to know where to turn for help. Please know that you can always call the Boys Town National Hotline. Counselors are available to talk 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at our toll free number of 1-800-448-3000. Would it be possible for you to call here so that someone can help you? We know that it can be tough to go through lots of issues by yourself. I know that it can be intimidating to call but keep in mind that we are here to help. If you just need to have someone listen we can even do that for you without giving a lot of advice.

Thanks for checking out our services. Please give us a call as soon as you can.

We are looking foward to your call.

Sincerely,

Linda, Crisis Counselor
