We are sorry to hear that you are not getting along with your parents.  What are they doing to upset you?  When things are getting so bad that you are contemplating running away, it is serious.  If you ran away to New York, where would you go?  How would you pay for things?  There are many things that are not safe for a 14 year old in New York.  You want to make sure you know how to take care of yourself, because no one else can if you run away.  We know how hard it is to grow up and wish that we could give you the perfect solution to what is going on but we can't.  All we can tell you is that things get so much better and you will not feel this way forever.  Remember if you do not talk to your parents about how you are feeling they are not going to change.  Have you tried?  What about talking to your school counselor about how you have been feeling?  They have many ways of helping teens with their problems and have access to all sorts of resources available to you.  Please understand that there are many people that can and want to help you, but you have to ask for it.

We hope you continue to reach out and consider calling or emailing us before you decide to runaway.  Let us know more about why you are feeling this way and give us a chance to help you through this tough time.    Be strong and we hope to hear from you soon.  Always know we are here for you 24/7!

Take Care,
Andria, Counselor
