Too Depressed
Every day, it becomes a bit more difficult to find a reason just to wake up. I have gotten stuck in a spiraling state of disarray. Too depressed to find work, or try and connect with the world. Yet these things would most likely help me out of this rut.. Which depresses me even more. No job, no GED, a social life that is non existent... Drugs would be great to escape with but I don't have the money to pay for them. And when I get into the drink, I go over-board. Blacking out and then spending the next few days apologizing to anyone and everyone because I am sure that I angered someone during my drunken stupor. Suicide and self mutilation are constantly on my mind. In fact, it's about the only thing that seems to be the answer. I must be punished, because my entire life everyone has been doing it... Thousands of people can't be wrong... right? Might as well join the club.

You have taken a step to connect with someone by reaching out to our hotline.  Millions of people make the choice not to end their lives.  Join that club.  Suicide is not the answer.  It is very permanent, and though the rut you are in now seems like it might go on forever, it will not.  Sometimes depression can make you feel like you are in an endless cycle of disappointments, but just as you would treat a broken arm, you can treat your depression.  You actually have already started by recognizing that you are dealing with it.

You do not have to do it alone.  If money is an issue, sometimes our hotline can find counseling centers that are cost free.  Just being able to have someone validate your feelings for starters can be very therapeutic.  Crisis Counselors are available 24/7 on our hotline and would be more than happy to visit with you without judging you on your past behavior.  Please reach out and call.  Let us give you a listening ear and research what is available for you in your local area.
