Why I Am Suicidal
There's nothing wrong going in my life, so why am I so suicidal and depressed? My parents are divorced, but I'm over it. My friends say they're there for me, but that obviously doesn't mean I can open up to them.

My life is normal, easy, and pretty simple. Other kids are suicidal because their parents hit them, or they're bullied or something. Nothing is really wrong in my life. So why am I suicidal?

We are glad you are reaching out for help.

It sounds like you are going through a difficult time.  It is okay to admit how you feel.  Expressing feelings allows us and others to understand what we need in life.  You mentioned being suicidal and depressed.  This lets you and us know that something isn't going well for you.  This knowledge is the beginning of you getting help.

Sometimes we feel a certain way and can't figure out what is causing the feeling.  The cause can sometimes be physical or mental.  The cause can also be related to your circumstance or environment.  It can be frustrating when you can't figure out the cause  That is why it is good you are reaching out.

Just know that there is help and suicide is not the answer.  Suicide is permanent while feelings and problems can change.  Please make a promise to keep yourself safe today.  We want to assist you at getting help with your life.

Letting your loved one's know how you feel will allow your parents or an adult to give you support.  Counseling is a positive option for figuring out why you feel depressed and suicidal.  This means getting an assessment to see if depression or some other ailment may be causing your feelings.  Talking to others can help you see patterns or issues that you aren't noticing.  Relationships with friends and family, school and self-esteem are just a few factors that can affect how you feel.

We are available 24 hours daily to assist you.  You can even call us at 1-800-448-3000 to talk to a counselor.  Please try talking to an adult, family or friend to start getting support with your problems.  Try to think about some things that would make you happy if you added them to your life.  Let us know how things are going.

Counselor,
Valerie
