School Work Taking Over

I have a ton of summer work for school and it is really stressing me out. I have five books to read for English and have an assignment for each of them. I also have to read one book for AP us History and have an assignment for that. I have to do an entire workbook for Spanish three. And on top of all that I am taking a summer class pertaining to the SAT in which I have homework after every session. I am just completely overwhelmed. Are there any strategies that I should know in order to balance all of this?

This is taking over my whole summer and making it miserable because even when I am not doing the work and hanging out with friends all I can think of is how much work I still have to do. I don’t know how to have fun without all of that work messing it up for me. I don’t know what to do. I worked hard the whole school year. I kinda feel like I deserve a break. But like I said I can’t separate work and recreation because the work always invades my thoughts during my times of recreation.

Hello,

It is good to reach out and gather suggestions to help you accomplish your academic goals while maintaining a healthy balance with your social life and personal time. You could benefit from a time management skill seminar. You can find one online. An approach that can get you started is to look at your schedule for the week and plan time to commit to your current summer class and the other summer assignments based on priority. You can prioritize them based on deadlines, order of value to you, etc. Also schedule in time for yourself to exercise, spend time doing something enjoyable, social time with friends and family. Part of feeling overwhelmed is looking at all the work as a whole. Breaking it down into what needs to be done today, this week, this month, then this summer can make it seem more manageable. Set small goals to measure progress and celebrate / reward progress with something you find rewarding. If you have another question regarding this issue or if you have another question regarding a different issue in the future you are welcome to contact us again.
