Volleyball Practice Accident

I broke one of my friends hand in vollyball practice.   I did not mean to. I cried the whole practcie I felt so bad and she told me not worry about and that she was not mad and she knew that I didn't mean to.

I told my coach that if she couldn't play for the rest of the season then I don't need to play because it's my fault that she can't play and it's not fair to her.  My coach said okay.  Do u think I did the right thing?

When someone accidently gets hurt during a sporting event it is natural to feel badly. Even if you were involved when the injury occurred, you cannot take responsibility. Not if it truly was an accident. Offering to sit on the bench if she is unable to play was a kind and sensitive thing to do for her, but not necessarily what is best for the team.

When the team is a player short, it usually requires the other players to put forth more effort to make up for the injured one's absence. Perhaps expressing your willingness to work extra hard to your coach would show more support to the team. You can show support to your injured friend another way like high fiving her before going out on the floor, or giving her a hug after the game.

Try to think of something fun to look forward to along with your volleyball games. That may help get you through the tough times when you have had some upsetting things happen during the week.
