|  | Need Help and Advice I have been depressed for a month already, I have cried alot because of I got out of a 2 year relationship. I am still in love with him and he says he loves me but we can't be together because he needs to forget some bad memories that we had. I get it but the thing I don't get is that he is trying to get with another girl the day after we broke up and talking and using his ex gf. I once told him that I was going to leave because I couldn't take it anymore and he got mad and sad and told me not to leave because he needs me and he kissed me, I obviously couldn't help but kiss him back. After we kissed he said sorry and that he couldn't help it. So I try being there for him everyday by talking to him and hanging out with him every time we have school, but it hurts when I see him hugging the other girl. I need help and advice please. |  |

|  | It is so hard to watch someone you care about move on with their life. We know that you want to be there for him, but you have to start doing things that are going help you to move forward. You two were together for a long time and the fact that he can just move on so quickly has got to be difficult. Remember, the longer you keep in contact with him and invest your time on him the harder it will be to move forward in your life. We know you care about him, but what he is doing to you is not fair. It seems that he is keeping you on the back burner in case things go poorly with this girl. You deserve to be with someone who wants to be with you and only you.
Time heals all wounds, but in order for you to move forward you are going to have to keep yourself busy. It is critical that you do things you enjoy: hang out with friends, read, write, draw, music, exercise, volunteer, etc, so you can keep focused on yourself. It is also important that you have a strong support network; friends, family, trusted adults, etc. Another person that is good to talk to is your school counselor, they are available to help you through stressful situations. Because you have been feeling depressed, you want to make sure that you are talking to someone about how you are feeling and your school counselor is the perfect person. We know it is hard to talk to parents, but they are there to help you and cannot unless you let them know what is going on. Parents want to help their children through hard times and give them the strength and tools they need.
