Just Want To Be Myself

Well let's just say that I'm not pretty or skinny. I'm a fat ugly blob of a girl and it stinks. People have told me throughout my life that I'm fat and I'm not really pretty. When people describe me they always say oh that fat chick and nobody really thinks I'm pretty.

I know that I'm not pretty and I'm not skinny and it hurts. Even my parents have told me that I'm big. and I just want to be myself. I even cry to myself cause I know that it gets to me but I know it's true.

We are sorry to hear you are struggling at this time, so we are happy that you are reaching out for support. It definitely sounds like you dealing with self esteem issues. If you want to feel better about yourself, the first thing you have to do is stop being your own worst enemy. Stop putting yourself down. Feeling better about yourself will take some work, but you can do it. Instead of putting yourself down, build yourself up. Tell yourself positive things. Tell yourself that you are a good person and deserve to be happy and feel better.

Tell yourself that you are strong and will get through this in a healthy way. It doesn't matter how much you weigh or how you look. What matters is the person you are inside and being healthy.

Set some small realistic goals for yourself. Make a list of all the good things about yourself and read them aloud everyday before you start your day. The more you think about the good things the more likely good will happen for you!

Take responsibility for your behavior. Life is hard for everyone. As individual's we are all responsible for our own happiness. Do things that you enjoy and make you happy. Sometimes we feel it is our family and friends that make us happy, but this is not true. We are responsible for our own happiness. If you feel your weight is an issue, then talk with your parents about scheduling an appointment with your doctor to get on a healthy weight loss program.

Hopefully this advice has been helpful to you. Please keep in touch with us. You can email us or call us at 1-800-448-3000 if you need additional support. We are always here for you. Please stay strong. You can get through this.

Take care,

Chris, Crisis Counselor
