Thanks so much for taking the time to reach out to us this evening. It really sounds like you have a lot going for you and people hold you in a high regard. Being looked up to and respected can cause a lot of stress for someone. Do you feel like that is happening to you? Sometimes the pressure to meet everyone’s standards and be who they want you to be just becomes a burden and puts a lot of stress on your shoulders. We know you are going through a rough time right now, which is why getting some help and support is a great step to take.

You can be Gabby. What do you enjoy doing? What makes you happy? We know you are going through a very difficult time right now. This is going to sound simple or cliché, but being true to yourself and remembering to do things that make you happy can go a long way towards helping you feel better. Sometimes the pressures to succeed and be perfect become overwhelming; it really does happen to a lot of people.

Have you talked to anybody about how you are feeling? Opening up to a parent, school counselor, teacher, or a coach gives you a chance to not only gain their comfort and guidance, but it gives you a chance to vent. Getting some things off your chest, allowing your emotions to come to the surface, and allowing yourself to open up to others can be such a relief. Instead of putting on a fake smile, it does help to let someone know how you feel. Bottling things up inside doesn’t solve anything, but opening up and addressing your feelings does.

You seem like a really smart, capable girl. As humans, we are our own biggest critics. The good news is you don’t have to be critical about yourself. Do what makes you happy. Don’t be afraid to screw up. Pursue your interests with such an enthusiasm you can’t help but smile. If you need help, don’t be afraid to ask for it. Counselors, family, and friends are always there for you; so lean on them when you need to. You can be Gabby; and Gabby is a great person. We know times are feeling tough for you right now, but everyone needs help. Being Gabby doesn’t mean you can’t get help. Get the help and support you need so you can get back on track living the happy, go-lucky life style you want and deserve.

We are always here for you. Hopefully our response has given you some things to think about and consider as you move forward. Let us know how things go and if there is anything else we can do to help.

Best wishes,

Abe, Counselor
