Thanks for having the courage to email us tonight. We're really sorry to hear you're in so much pain, but it's great to hear that you were able to stop yourself from continuing to take LSD! That shows how determined and resilient you already are. A lot of the times when people use drugs to cope they end up halting their emotional development and stunting their ability to cope effectively and healthily.
So it takes time and self-education to pick up where you left off by learning healthy coping mechanisms and ways to reduce stress that doesn't have anything to do with self-harming.
Have you ever considered counseling? They can be great at helping you learn how to cope and work through issues. Is that something you would consider?
We can always get you referrals to places in your area if you would give us your city/state, we have a large database of resources. Do your parents know what you're going through? It's important you reach out to your support systems when you're feeling like you could use the support.
Is there anyone in your life, a trusted adult, that you can open up to? What kinds of things to do currently do to cope, besides cutting? Do you journal, draw, exercise, play sports? Those things can be helpful in managing urges to use drugs or cut, if you give them a try. Let us know what we can do for you and please keep us posted on how you're doing. We wish you all the best!
Sincerely,
Jessica, Counselor
