Hotline Discusion Bullying: They Won't Leave Me Alone

We're so glad you reached out to us regarding your concerns with these bullies. Have you told anyone about the threats? We would strongly encourage you to tell your parents AND your school Principal or a trusted teacher. It's important you don't leave out any details and make sure they know exactly what is supposed to happen.

Bullying takes many forms and has many outlets these days, but you don't have to put up with it. Schools are now required by law to intervene. Stay strong and don't let them make you feel like going to school is a horrible experience. Basically it comes down to this, when people make fun, pick on someone, are critical in a way that isn't healthy, or are relentless in their pursuit to make someone miserable, then all that truly is, is a reflection of their own misery and low self-worth and insecurities. It really has nothing to do with you and who you are.

When bullies pick on people, it's because they are unhappy with themselves and somehow it makes them feel better about who they are when they try and tear down someone else, (especially when that other person has a quality that they wish they had, but might not even realize it). It's the ultimate show in cowardly behavior.

Let us know what you end up doing and be strong! You can do it, be your own advocate and get the support you deserve! We're always here for you!

Sincerely,

Jessica, Counselor
